  1. Tammy says:

I’m fairly new to blogs & blogging, so I’m not sure what my URL is… ??? Can I still join the 2012 book challenge ?? I love to read !!

    1. gb_admin says:

Hi Tammy! Yes, you can still definitely join the challenge. Your URL refers to your blogpost link which indicates your intention to join the challenge as well as the level you are aiming for. Essentially what you need to do are the following steps:

      1. Create a post in your blog announcing that you will be joining this reading challenge.
      2. In your blog post, you would also need to write down the level that you are aiming for. You may refer to this link or URL ( to know the various levels you can choose from. The levels refer to the number of books you intend to read for the whole year.
      3. Then you’d need to go back to this page and fill out Mr Linky above – you have to write your name, and the URL refers to your blogpost link which is essentially your announcement post that you’re joining the challenge. :)

      I hope that helps!

      Warm wishes,

    1. gb_admin says:

Hi Burgandy Ice! Welcome to the reading challenge. It would be great if you could leave your blog post link here as a comment which announces your intention to join the challenge and the level you are aiming for. :) You don’t need to fill out the Mr Linky yet again. :) Looking forward to your reviews!

  7. Zoe says:

Very excited to join! Not sure of the level yet – need to do a bit more research to see how many translated award winning picture books I can find as that’s what I want my focus to be. Can’t wait to get going!

    1. Myra from GatheringBooks says:

Hi Zoe, we’re happy that you decided to join the reading challenge. The fun thing about reading challenges is that it would bring us to really great books that we might not otherwise have discovered. Looking forward to reading your reviews. :)

  8. Library Quine says:

Looking forward to participating in the challenge. This will be my first, so I’m easing myself in gradually.

Hi Library Quine, we’re honored that you decided to join our reading challenge. we also appreciate all the links you shared. Have fun with the challenge! No pressure, just funfunfun. :)

  9. Andrea says:

I’m looking forward to reading lots of award-winners from other countries as well as some of those Newberys I’m embarrassed I haven’t read yet!

    1. Myra from GatheringBooks says:

No cause for embarrassment at all! :) Plenty of time in 2012 to read all those luscious books. Best of luck with the challenge, Andrea.

  10. Lindsay says:

Hey there! What a great idea for a year long blog challenge! I’m excited to participate! I’m going to start out shooting for at least 10 and hopefully end up around Platinum!

    1. Myra from GatheringBooks says:

Sounds like a plan! Best of luck! :)

  11. Amy Lynn says:

To use the common internet phraseology… Challenge accepted. (Like a boss.) If I can’t polish off thirty-five award winners in one year, I don’t deserve the sense of casual elitism I’ve cultivated as a reader. =P

    1. Myra from GatheringBooks says:

Oooh-la-la ‘casual elitism’ – likeylike! Best of luck with the 35 award winning books.

  12. Athena says:

Hi. This is my first time to join a book challenge so please bear with me. And I’m not sure if I will be able to write decent book reviews but I’m very much willing to learn.

    1. Myra from GatheringBooks says:

      Hi Athena,
No pressure at all. :) In fact, if anything, it’s really the community that we’re building with our mutual love for books that should matter more. :) Have fun with the challenge! :)

  13. Amy says:

Hi, Myra. My goal for 2012 is, at a minimum, to read books from the 10 most recent Hans Christian Andersen Award winners and recommend a favorite book by each of these authors on my blog. -Amy

    1. Myra from GatheringBooks says:

Hi Amy, Noted that. :) Hopefully, you can also post an announcement in your blog about your participation in the reading challenge – you can just write the link as your comment here. :) I always look forward to reading your extensive blogposts. Have fun!

  14. Ron Tab says:

I only have a shelfari account and I don’t blog. Can I still join? What will be the url address that I should give? How can I express my goal for 2012?

    1. gb_admin says:

      Hi Ron,

You can still join. I suggest you can sign up with the url of your profile page. Also, we do encourage that you still review the books via shelfari. We also have a shelfari account. You can connect with us so we can check you account. Enjoy your reading!

    2. Myra from GatheringBooks says:

Hi Ron, that’s a good question. Sorry to have gotten back to you so late. For your URL address, it would have to be your shelfari account for the meanwhile. You can leave your goal for 2012 as a comment here. You would also need to share with us the link to your reviews via shelfari as soon as you have a review posted in connection with the challenge. I hope that answers your questions. Let me know if there are still things you’d need to clarify. :)

  15. Angie says:

    I’m aiming for Gold!

  16. Cheri says:

I love booklists, so this challenge is right up my alley. Thanks for hosting.

  17. Tin says:

Hi! This is the first time that I’ve joined a reading challenge! I am just aiming for Bronze though (probably less than 10). My book fund have yet to be nursed back to health. :D

  18. Claire says:

This is a wonderful challenge to start off the year, thank you!

  19. Kumari says:

I am aiming for the Silver Medal…hope i reach it!.

  20. Katy says:

Looking forward to doing this. My chosen theme is award winning books about cats, so a bit of research involved. Any recommendations, gratefully received.

  21. Nuelene says:

New York Times Bestseller List? Is this okay? Most of the books/novel I’m reading falls under this one.

    1. gb_admin says:

Some of those in the best seller list are award winning, but not all of them are. By award winning they must have received some kind of literary medal (like a pulitzer, newberry, cadelcott, printz, or nobel prize for literature). Good luck with the challenge!

  22. Judie says:

I pledged to complete Level 2! Thanks for hosting this challenge.

  23. Joyce ray says:

I’m sorry! It seems I submitted my link twice. I’m sure you can fix my mistake. Whew! I’m just so happy to have competed my first AWB review.

    1. gb_admin says:

      Hi Joyce ray,
Congratulations on your first review for the challenge! It’s ok, i can easily take it down. :)
